Philippos, der sich als Arzt aufhielt bei KönigPtolemaios und bereits früher stets die Ursache für Gutes wurdeund nach Kräften sagte und tat, was im Interesse der Heimat war - weshalber auch von der Stadt gewürdigt wurde mit Lob und Kranz undVerkündigung und den anderen Ehren, mit denen auch sein Vater gewürdigt worden war - stetsnützlich und wohlwollend war, Nutzen erwies denjenigen, die sich an ihnwandten, wofür sie ihn baten, und keinen Unterschied machten hinsichtlichseiner Kunst, sondern seine Erfahrung öffentlich unter Beweis stellteund sich um alle Bürger in gleicher Weise bemühte; und erneut geehrtvom Volk mit goldenem Kranz von fünfzig Goldstücken Wertund Lob und Verkündigung, sich noch viel ergebener und eifrigerum die Heimat bemühte und keinen Moment ausließ,es nichts fehlen zu lassen an Nutzen für die Stadt, und vieleBürger, die als Festgesandte und Gesandte ausgeschickt worden warenzu König Ptolemaios, bei ihrer Ankunft großzügig bei sich aufnahm;(und) damit nun auch das Volk in sichtbarer Weise würdig diejenigen ehre,die ihm zu jedem Zeitpunkt ihr Wohlwollen erzeigen, so wollen Rat undVolk beschließen, zu Glück und Heil!: dass man belobige Kaphisophon seiner Tugendwegen und seines Wohlwollens gegenüber der Stadt, und ihn bekränze mit goldenemKranz von soviel Goldstücken Wert, wieviel nach dem Gesetz die Volksversammlung berechtigt ist,als Höchstsumme zu geben. - -es S.d. with Herzog's supplements:In as much as Kaphisophon son of Philippos serving as doctor with KingPtolemy previously has always been responsible for some good,speaking and doing what was advantageous to the fatherland to the best of his ability,because of which also, deemed worthy by the city of praise and a crown anda proclamation and the other honors that his father had, he conducted himselfas useful and benevolent, supplying the needs of those who encountered himwith repect to what they asked of him, and making no charge forhis skill he zealously supplied his expertise in commonto all the citizens alike; and honored alsoonce again by the city with a gold crown worth fifty gold statersand praise and a proclamation, he more devotedly and eagerlyoffers himself to the fatherland, missing no occasionto the effect that the city is not slow in obtaining anything of value, and he also received generously the large number of citizens who went as theoroiand ambasadors to King Ptolemy;therefore also so that the people be manifest honoring worthily thosewho demonstrate their goodwill on every occasion, it is decreed by the council andpeople, for good fortune: to praise Kaphisophon for his excellenceand the goodwill toward the city and to crown him with a goldcrown worth as many staters as the assembly is empoweredto award. - -es son of Xanthippos proposed: the rest as decreedby the council, and the sacred herald is to announce at the Dionysia andthe Asklepieia that the people crowns Kaphisophon son of Philip etc.
